AWG ↔ mm² Wire Size Converter
Convert American Wire Gauge (AWG) to mm² and vice versa. Essential when working with US-manufactured equipment.
Units:
AWG works inversely: the lower the number, the thicker the wire. AWG 4/0 is the thickest common size (~107 mm²). AWG 22 ≈ 0.34 mm² used in signal wiring. In Europe we use mm² — more intuitive as it directly represents the cross-sectional area.
d(AWG) = 0.127 × 92^((36−AWG)/39) [mm] | A = π/4 × d² [mm²]
