Pneumatic Valve Sizing (Cv/Kv)

Calculate the required Cv/Kv flow coefficient for a pneumatic valve based on required flow, upstream pressure and allowable pressure drop.

💡Always size valves 20–30% larger than the calculated minimum Cv. A valve running at 100% Cv is fully open with no control authority. For proportional valves, target 60–80% open at design flow for best control.
Cv = Q / (963 × P1 × √(ΔP/P1)) for subcritical flow (ΔP/P1 < 0.53)
