Surface Roughness Conversion
Convert between Ra, Rz, Rmax and CLA (Centre Line Average) surface roughness values, and find corresponding machining process and ISO grades.
Units:
Ra = arithmetic mean deviation (most common). Rz = mean roughness depth (10-point). Rmax = maximum profile height. Rz is approximately 4-7x Ra. For sealing surfaces: Ra < 1.6 um. Bearing seats: Ra 0.4-0.8 um.
Rz approx 4-7 x Ra | N-grade: N1=Ra0.025, N2=Ra0.05, N3=Ra0.1, N4=Ra0.2, N5=Ra0.4, N6=Ra0.8, N7=Ra1.6, N8=Ra3.2, N9=Ra6.3
