Hydraulics
Telescopic Cylinder Forces
Calculate force and volume for each stage of a hydraulic telescopic cylinder with up to 4 stages.
Units:
Telescopic cylinders are used where large strokes are needed but installation space is limited — typical applications: truck tippers, dump trucks, agricultural machinery. Each stage has a different force at the same pressure.
F_stage [N] = π/4 × D_stage² [cm²] × p [bar] × 10
Input
Working pressure iHydraulic working pressure in bar.

Stroke per stage iStroke length of each individual stage in mm.

Stage 1 diameter (innermost) iDiameter of the innermost (smallest) plunger in mm.

Stage 2 diameter iDiameter of stage 2 plunger in mm. Set to 0 if not used.
